IN SPORT Helps Share the Story of Community Through Future Immortals Tour Collaboration
The recent Future Immortals Tour to Mareeba demonstrated the power of sport to create genuine connections, with one of the tour’s most meaningful collaborations taking place alongside Mulungu Health Service.
Working closely with the Arthur Beetson Foundation, Lacey Events and the team at Mulungu, IN SPORT was proud to help capture and share the stories that are making a real difference across the Mareeba community.
Throughout the visit, our focus extended well beyond the football field.
The opportunity allowed us to document the incredible work being delivered by Mulungu Health Service, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to improving health, wellbeing and community connection through culturally safe and locally driven programs. The collaboration centred on authentic storytelling, ensuring the voices of the community remained at the heart of every conversation.
Rather than simply recording events as they happened, the production process actively involved community members. Local children enthusiastically participated in filming activities, families shared their experiences, and community members spoke openly about the importance of the services available through Mulungu.
This collaborative approach created content that reflects the genuine spirit of the community while showcasing the positive impact that local health services continue to have across the region.
For the Future Immortals ambassadors, the experience became much more than another tour stop.
Spending time alongside community members, listening to local stories and seeing the work being delivered firsthand provided valuable insight into the challenges, strengths and aspirations of the region. These moments of connection continue to be one of the defining features of the Future Immortals program, reinforcing that meaningful relationships are built through listening, participation and shared experiences.
The collection of interviews, photography and video produced during the visit will now form an important body of content that helps tell Mulungu’s story beyond the event itself. By sharing these stories more broadly, the collaboration helps raise awareness of the vital health and wellness services available while celebrating the strength, resilience and culture of the Mareeba community.
The collaboration reflects IN SPORT’s ongoing commitment to using media as a platform for positive social impact. By partnering with organisations that are creating meaningful change, storytelling becomes more than content creation—it becomes a way to celebrate communities, amplify local voices and preserve stories that deserve to be shared.
IN SPORT would like to thank Mulungu Health Service, the Arthur Beetson Foundation, the Future Immortals ambassadors and every community member who welcomed us so openly throughout the tour. We look forward to continuing to work together to share stories that inspire connection, celebrate culture and highlight the remarkable work happening across regional and remote Australia.
The Future Immortals Tour continues to demonstrate that while rugby league may bring people together, it is the conversations, relationships and community partnerships that leave the greatest legacy.
